NICK OF TIME

So it's day 5, smoke free, and I've never felt better. Contrary to the popular notion, I'm still losing weight too. Of course, just being away from America and all the overprocessed and preserved foods and that's bound to happen. Inspired by my trainer, I'm getting a lot of work done every day and I'm, on the whole, very happy. I still haven't spoken to Jerry, but I'm not so sure that's a bad thing.

So I've been considering the question: Which is better? Is it better to try and please other people, do what they want you to do, or what is expected of you, even if you come to hate what you do, burn out and end up doing nothing for many years? Or is it better to do what you truly love, even be wild and spontaneous, knowing that many people around you are not going to like it, that would be critics will everywhere appear to instruct you as to why you should do things the accepted way, but you may still find a small and loyal group that will agree with you and follow you? I already know the answer to this question. I'm simply in the process of proving it.

There is a providence that moves when you're "on the right track." Writers and philosophers from ancient Plato up to the recent Joseph Campbell have written about it. I have certainly experienced it, and I want to give few recent examples of the types of things that have been happening to me since I started this adventure.

A few days ago, my quarterly Internet bill came up. This time, it happened to include a number of domain name renewals, so it was a pretty hefty bill and I had not the funds to cover it. They tried to put it through, and the charge was declined. I got a nice letter from them making me aware of that fact. The next day, though, I got an unexpected payment from a content site I sell on, one which hasn't made me any money in ages, and I had enough to cover my bill. My sites would remain live for another quarter.

Covering that bill didn't leave me any money for food though. Luckily, the next day, as I prepared to cook my last meal, I got. An order for some drawings. They were easy, so I did them and got paid. That brought in the money, but in order to get food, I had to pull it out of an ATM. Since everything is so far from here, that was not going to be easy. At that moment, my roommate came downstairs saying he had to go to the bank to deposit his check.

I got a ride to the bank and got my money, but that still had to be converted into food. There are a couple of small markets near my friend's house, which would suffice for some things, but Providence had different plans. My friend's wife suddenly needed something from the SM City near the banks and I got to go to the big mall supermarket. They had everything I could want, even my favorite, Korean Shin Ramyun, and it was not grossly overpriced like it usually is.

I returned home with stacks of food and was ready to get back to work. Now imagine for a moment if you could actually work with this Providence to reach your desired ends. What would you create?

Carry onward! This sounds almost like you are channelling some of the hooey in The Secret... but you are moving more "in the flow" without having to ask the universe to divine it for you. I like it.

I never count nor recognize anything in front of me or behind me. It's just life. Taken one second at a time.
