EXTENDED
Believe it or not, still no electricity! The electric company is actually claiming they ran out of meter boxes and are waiting to get us a new one. Some surmise that, in reality, they are trying to make us wait until we can't take it anymore so that we will give them more money for doing us a favor. The owner of the house believes this and said not to give them jack until the job is done and the electric is back connected.
We are not left totally in the dark, though. Our neighbor, across the street, has allowed us to run an extension cord to the outlet in their garage, from which we can draw power. The cord is pretty nice, at 15 meters and with 3 all purpose jacks on it, meaning US, Korean, local, Japanese or other products can be plugged into it. It is rated to handle 1200 watts so we are being careful about not plugging too much into it.
Into each of the three jacks goes a power strip. One my friend Dylan and his wife run another extension cord upstairs to power their fan and computers, where they mostly play Warcraft all day. Another goes to the main room entertainment system. They never use that, but I wanted to finish watching Heroes Season 3 as soon as we had some semblance of power, so I plugged that up. The other goes to my desk, so I have a fan, a charger for my iPhone and power for a computer, a computer which turned out to be quite a surprise.
Apparently, my friend Dylan had a Quad Core Mac Pro with 4 GB RAM sitting in an upstairs room collecting dust. He's not much of a Mac user, and I guess he got it for Pro Tools, but never got into it. We took out his hard drive and put in a blank one, formatted it and did a fresh install of Leopard. I was then able to copy all of my applications and settings from an external drive on which I backed up my last Macbook. I am back up and running with all my tools of creation. The only thing I am missing is iLife, which is no small thing, but he has it on the main server here or I can easily buy it for $79 or so.
The important thing is being able to get down to business again. I realize I had the right idea when I first came here almost a year ago. Aside from traveling and playing around in a new country, I spent some time in the day writing for pay, creating content for the Japanese download sites or generally freelancing. That was working and I should never have stopped. Looking back on my reasons for stopping, I can now see that they were all flawed. They generally hinged on the erroneous idea that I had something better to do. I do not. There is nothing better to do than doing your own thing.
On another note, my friend has better iPhone unlocking software than I, and he claims that if we again flash my iPhone bios and update it to OS 2.1.4, my camera may very well work again. Having a real Mac and a working camera would mean a lot for this site. I can also return to using Rapid Weaver to create it. You may remember that my situation Korea caused me to switch to all web based tools, but that is not necessary here. There's so much I want to add to the gallery too. Pictures of all the great sites I saw in Japan and Korea, the ancient temples, tombs of kings and cities on the beach. I hope to get all that stuff up soon.

No, now that you have a computer you need to install WoW and join your friends and me. I'll even start a toon on one of those asian servers suffer the 250ms lag. :)
Or just create one on Feathermoon where we play and enjoy the lag, heh.
My friend seems to be on WoW all the time. I know so many people that play, yet I have never played it. Me and Jerry used to play Dekaron. Funny thing is, I found they have a Korean Internet cafe here in Manila that actually connects to Korean servers only. I could play my Dekaron account there maybe.
