NOTHING REALLY HAPPENING
Nothing is really happening these days. Jerry arrived in Australia a few days ago and she, along with Victor and Sally, called me for a video chat on Skype. It was great to see them all again. I am still at my friend's place and the time to relax has given me great opportunity to consider what I really want to do next. It has alos, unfortunately given me great opportunity to watch too much TV.
At one point my friend found this satelite TV type software that streams who knows how many channels right to your desktop. Since his media computer is connected to his big screen, we could watch Sci-Fi all day, and I did for at least one or two days. Also DVDs are easy to come by and that resulted in me watching the first three seasons of Battlestar Galactica, and all of the Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles TV series, as well as many movies.
DVDs here are interesting. Most are likely to be pirated material. If someone walks in front of the picture while you're watching a movie, then you can be certain is is a pirated disc that someone shot off the screen. The interesting thing is, the new HDV cameras on the market are so high quality that you sometimes cannot tell, unlike the old days when DV cameras were used for this.
In the end, though, I could have stayed home and watched TV and DVDs. I want to get back to the adventure. I have been thinking about what I really want to do next. Some conclusions I came to are thus: I want to get another Mac. The computer I have now runs Windows Vista, and while it may be the best Windows yet, it is just too hard to go back after using OS X. The computer I have is 17" though, and so I know that my next Mac must be the 17" macbook Pro.
I want to go to Japan next. I want to really spend some time there, maybe a few months. I may even get involved in the indie anime and manga world there. That I don't know, but I definitely want to go. I was in Osaka a month ago and remembered how much I love Japan and being able to use my deteriorating Japanese skills. I also forgot to mention when I wrote about those travels that I have numerous pictures from Justin's camera, though they are hard copies, and when I get them scanned, they will go int he gallery.
I feel like I am really zeroing in on what I really want to do. Actually that hasn't really ever changed, it's more about how I want to do it and believing I can do it. Listening to too many other people and their opinions about my work basically turned something I used to love into something I hated and I gave up on it completely. Having all this time to think, I was able to get clear on what I really want to do, meaning with my talents as an artist, and how I want to do it. Who cares what other people say I should do with my skills?
I still need a camera. Unfortunately, for my needs, there's nothing better than if my iPhone camera just worked. Maybe I should get another iPhone.
