ARRIVAL
I arrived in the Philippines early yesterday morning. Even flying over the island of Luzon, I could see that it looked very different from Cebu. Something seemed a bit higher quality. It felt different. One might be inclined to think that things would, thus, be more expensive here, but this is not the case. Things are, in fact, cheaper!
My friend and his wife picked me up at the airport. From there, we tried to avoid passing through Manila, the traffic ridden capital of the Philippines, and make our way to Imus Cavite where he lives. Cavite is not the expected style poor city often encountered here. It looks like a small suburban town in America. It's like a totally different world. I can totally see why someone would want to settle down here. Imagine living in a subdivision not unlike the one you might be in now, but paying only $150 or so a month. They have highspeed, well 3Mbit at least, Internet and all the comforts of home. You could rent out a house in America and live well here off that money.
Another bit of lucky news is that when I got to my friend's place, I saw a boxed 15" Macbook Pro in his computer room. He was just about to sell it on Ebay. I told him I would totally buy that off him. I'd be back in business in no time! There is some settling in to do for sure. Still, I love it here so far. I need to get down to some serious drawing and bring in some funds now. The adventure goes on!
