A PLACE TO WORK!

Last night I was online looking into different currencies on the world economic market. I was shocked to see that one US dollar is now worth 1530 Korean won. What was more surprising, though, was how strong the Japanese Yen had become! I remember back in the day when the Japanese Yen was at 114 to the US Dollar. Today it is at 88. This makes me, again, think about selling my original artwork or comics in Japan.

While in the Philippines, one of the ways I made money was creating original comics or comic style artwork to sell on Japanese content sites. During this time, the US Dollar was tanking and I easily noticed that my same comics were making more and more money every month. Sadly, I didn't stick with it. You know, persistence is one of those key ingredients to success that you hear about from every great teacher in the personal development field. Now it might be time to really revisit that market.

If I create new comics now, sell them in Japan but use the money here in Korea, it starts to stretch really far. I find that rather enticing. The key issue, though, is having a space in which to actually create said comics. Even though I was able to successfully install my paint software and drawing tablet on the family computer, there is rarely a time when I have free access to it, as the kids are often gaming or otherwise internet surfing. On top of that, some of the content I like to draw may not go over well there.

Today, though, while in my client's office, I noticed that he had a pretty nice computer there. I asked him about it. He didn't know the speed or the specs, but I messed with it a bit and it seems more than able to do the job. He is okay with me hanging out there everyday and working on it. Tomorrow, I will try to install my paint software and drawing tablet on that system and get to the work of creating content again to further my adventures.

When I wake up in the morning, I go to the gym, which is right near my client's office. I also eat at my friend's restaurant, which is also right near my client's office. Since I can't go back to the house, which is a good bus trip away and no one is there, now that Jerry is working during the day, and Seung Bin is back in school, leaving me no way to get in, I can now stay in this office and do some serious work to build up in Japan at a higher pay rate than before. Also makes me think it might not be bad to just move to this same part of town seeing as everything I do is now there. I wouldn't need to spend time or money on the bus anymore. That is a story for later, though.

In other news, on the way back to the side of town where I stay, I met this really cute girl named Yujil (not sure how to spell that) on the bus. She spoke good English, having just returned from Toronto Canada in January. She was going to YongTong, the place I wrote about before and go to quite often, to meet friends. We talked a lot about California, where I'm from and which she recently visited. We also talked about a place here in Korea called Hongdae (not sure on that spelling either). She said there are many foreigners there, many clubs, and it's like the university party spot. For those who don't know, Korean high school is the hard part and University is one big party. Getting in is the point. Getting out is pretty much guaranteed. I had heard stories about these "foreigner areas" and the club scenes there. I had thought about visiting before. From her description, it sounds like the place to be for nightlife. I will definitely have to try it out.

Sadly I didn't get her number or give her mine, as I don't have one. I will be trying to fix that tomorrow! Now I am at a PC Room near where I stay, and it is time to level up my character in Dekaron, the latest RPG we are all into.
